22 JUNIOR GOLF DESIGN CHALLENGE Continuing a program first introduced during the pandemic lockdown of 2020, the ASGCA has again offered young people the opportunity to get creative with their golf design ideas through The Great Junior Design Challenge. Entrants could submit their ideas for a golf hole with no limitations. The 2022 challenge attracted almost 100 entries, with our junior designers showcasing a great range of design features, from split fairways and island greens to boat docks and even state-shaped tees and greens. Our panel of judges selected Adam from Quebec as the winner, for his par-five creation, ‘River Crossed Island’. The hole plays across an archipelago that provides a multitude of options, with the primary fairway snaking from one island to another, to a green protected by two massive bunkers. The ASGCA Foundation awarded Adam a prize of $250, with a donation of the same amount also made to his local First Tee chapter. Two other submissions received $100 each in merchandise from U.S. Kids Golf.• View all the submissions on the ASGCA website.
